Sadiq khan ‘asleep at the wheel’ over failures at Met, says policing minister

  1. Well, it was Rudd who appointed Dick.

When the political and royal protection officers are being told to ignore what goes on ‘behind closed doors’ and are abused by a Cabinet minister, one can see that it’s unlikely to be the Mayor who is the problem

  2. >Sadiq Khan and his deputy mayor should have considered resigning because of the extent of the failures they have overseen in the Metropolitan police, the Government’s policing minister suggested on Wednesday.

    >Kit Malthouse, who spent four years as deputy mayor for policing when Boris Johnson was mayor, rounded on Mr Khan and his deputy mayor for policing Sophie Linden in a ferocious attack in the Commons.

Is Kit Malthouse not the policing minister. If there is anyone he needs to castigate here it would be himself.

  3. Sadiq has no actual power over the met though right? He gets to interview a candidate but cannot veto them, and they’re actually appointed by the home sec. Ridiculous as that is…
