Ukraine reports 198 frontline clashes, but written update lists 189 | Ukraine news

A discrepancy appears in the military’s own daily figures, while one eastern sector faced the heaviest pressure. The update also details extensive drone activity.

As of 10 p.m. on September 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported 198 combat engagements along the front. Russian forces launched the most attacks in the Kostiantynivka direction, where the Defense Forces repelled 20 assaults.

However, the text of the General Staff’s operational update gave a different overall figure: 189 combat engagements. The military did not explain the discrepancy. According to the General Staff, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 46 airstrikes during the day, dropped 172 guided aerial bombs, and deployed 5,763 kamikaze drones. They also shelled Ukrainian military positions and settlements 1,938 times.

Fighting in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk directions

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces attacked near Kostiantynivka and advanced toward Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Novoselivka, Rozkishne, Stepanivka, Toretske, Vilne, and Kucheriiv Yar.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 attacks, while two more engagements continued. According to preliminary General Staff estimates, 26 Russian troops were killed and three more wounded there. A piece of special equipment and three shelters were also destroyed, while a vehicle and 48 shelters were damaged. Ukrainian troops destroyed or suppressed 174 drones of various types.

Situation in other areas of the front

In the South Slobozhansky direction, Russian forces attacked five times, with one attack still ongoing. In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled seven attempts to advance; in the Sloviansk direction, they repelled four. Fighting continued in both areas.

Three attacks were recorded in the Orikhiv direction and one in the Huliaipole direction. In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces attacked toward Novoheorhiivka.

Russian forces did not launch assaults in the Kramatorsk or Dnipro River directions. There were no significant changes in the situation in other areas of the front, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
