Imagine what the shadow cabinet WhatsApp group is like:

    > *Starmer:* Hi all. Could you kindly reframe from calling me boring among your peers and in the press? It’s doing untold damage. Keir.

    > *Lammy:* LOL Keir’s messages read like an old man’s email

It is mad that he has to tell his cabinet maybe when the press is constantly reporting on him as being ‘boring’ don’t add more fuel to the fire.

  2. I’d disagree that Labour has recovered, it’s more the Tories shitting the bed.

He is right that a new party isn’t needed though. With FPTP it would be a pointless exercise and simply split the vote, thus handing the Tories victory.

  3. I can imagine a situation where Labour form the next government, fail to reform the political system in any meaningful way, fumble, and then hand power straight back to the Tories.

I can just see them fucking up our chance at a progressive future. All out of a misguided and stubborn belief that a permanent Labour majority is just around the corner under FPTP.

  4. The fundamental problem is that the party has two irreconcilable sides which fight constantly. That is not “solved” just because your side is winning.
