Everyone on strike, welcome to Labour Britain…… Wait
If the recent report that China are going to go for a 5 year zero covid policy turns out to be happening, then they’ll want a lot more than 2%, because inflation will sky rocket for years to come.
Here we go again. Screw government, screw Boris, screw companies… yadda yadda yadda.
Firefighters will be one group that the Tories will find it difficult to attack. Most people appreciate that firefighters risk their lives to do their job.
Trouble is they’ll probably change the law so they, like the police, aren’t allowed to strike.
Their pay is shit considering what they do and the training required so yeah a 2% increase isn’t enough.
It is not a pay rise. It is a pay cut. Inflation=9%, Offer=2%, Cut=7% or thereabouts. The Journalists should be checking their sums.
Yes, I can see them getting hot under the collar about this.
Stop calling below inflation pay adjustments “pay rises”. Our pay is declining until it’s adjusted back up. No one gets a “pay rise” unless you get a promotion.
Remember when they were smearing Jeremy saying this would happen if he was in power.
That picture in the article is not of Matt Wrack like they say it is
Unless it’s above 10% then it’s a pay cut.
Can we stop calling pay cuts ‘pay rises ‘? It’s below inflation, so it’s a cut.
I actually can’t remember the last strike that didn’t have the majority of the polled publics support tbh?
Can someone arrest Jeremy Corbyn please. He isn’t fit to be Prime Minister.
Get Boris Johnson in office instead. Labour just keep causing strikes. It all started with the chaotic PM Ed Milliband
Summer of discontent is on it’s way boi’s!
Can’t see Boris and the Tory’s hanging on for much longer!
Good. If Scotrail drivers who are part of the public sector deserve a 5% raise, then all public sector workers should get at least that, if not more.
Only way things are going to change is more people going on strike. We may take a short term hit for a better situation afterwards.
Over a decade of below inflation pay rises coming home to roost.

What a wasted decade it has been
Should* strike
What have firefighters ever done for **US**!!
Let’s get something out of the way first.
I can’t stand Corbyn. I think he’s a snivelling toad who can’t accept responsibilty for anything.
I think he threw the “Remain” campaign on purpose because he didn’t want to be in the EU – in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stood for Labour leadership precisely so he could do that.
I think if he’d got into power, Ukraine wouldn’t exist any more.
I think it’s downright insulting that his kneejerk reaction on hearing information from our own intelligence services regarding the Salisbury chemical attack was “Let’s ask Russia”.
But I still think that right now, he’d be doing a better job than Johnson.
Strike, strike, strike.
My dad mentioned it last night, he’s been a firefighter for 26/27(?) years and loves doing it. But I get the feeling pay, issues within the service, blame for things that aren’t in there control etc are eating away at him.
Still trying to figure out why unison accepted 2.1%
If a general strike happened for about 2 days the tories would be finished.
As soon as the govt set that pension rise, no one with an ounce of sense is going to accept any less.
I will be forever thankful for them arriving to the scene of my burning house. Boris is a joke
people are all going to get their 10% increases. Prices will go up 12%, taxes will go up.
everyone will be in a worse place and wonder – what happened.
These guys risk their lives, is 2% enough?
So do they get 13% or is it actually 11% pay cut?
I hope they do, more power to em
This defintely would not at all be a good time to start burning the buildings belonging to the people who got us into this atrocious mess.
Shell, BP, Tory government, companies owned by top tories, etc.
They should do, if they don’t get what they want/need. All the rich shareholders are making a killing from this hight inflation.
Good, I’ve said it before but every industry needs to strike.
Tis the season to be striking!
Fa la la la, give me pay! 😂
Seriously who isn’t striking at this rate in this country?!
What pisses me off is that people are being perceived as greedy for expecting their pay to be adjusted *at least* in line with inflation. People aren’t even necessarily expecting a raise, they just don’t think it’s fair to be getting a cut.
After all, why should we bare the brunt of the inflation when companies are making record profits.
I work with a firefighter, they get shafted a lot.
Offering 2% is just like saying fuck off we don’t fucking care about your cost of living.

When inflation is at 9% that’s a 7% pay cut
