Kutná Hora, Czechia

  1. We went to Kutna Hora on a weekday, and the walk from the train station to the cathedral felt like a ghost town – traces of people, but nobody to be seen, like a Stephen King book or the rapture or something. Then: this amazing, beautiful place. They’d been replacing the copper on the roof and some of the buttresses had this incredible reflected glow. People showed up! The interior was as gorgeous as the exterior, and we got to go upstairs.

The lead-up to getting there (after the ossuary, which probably didn’t help our mental states) made the contrast even greater.

  2. I was there some 10 years ago. I remember a very nice amd relaxed city. The roof of the cathedral resembles the gate building of De Efteling, the largest the park in NL.
