Narrative is massively favourable to her and even it gives out that she lied to the Police at the time. He didn’t “jump in front” of your car, you ran him down in a fit of rage. Oh but it’s fine, because you’re sorry?

As to the actual case, it does sound like an accident, but it should be ~~manslaughter~~ culpable homicide rather than careless driving in my opinion. She’s ruined her chance at any kind of career anyway.
She is 100% getting away with it
Poor guy. This rings so many bells. My mate had a partner who was controlling like this. She wanted to see all his spending and made a huge fight over single penny he spent, then he was not allowed to question anything she spent money on – and she demanded that he gives her “pocket money”. When he tried to leave her, she was saying things from “I am going to kill myself and blame you in the letter” or “I’ll go to the police and tell them you are abusing me and that you raped me”. He was completely wrecked and on the verge of suicide.
Didn’t want to go to the police out of fear that they will turn against him. Only advice to him from men’s help organisation was to prepare an escape plan and run. He had to quit his job and move to another city abandoning his elderly parents, as he was not able to afford getting them with him.
