Dublin rejects capping Ukrainian refugee arrivals amid housing crisis claims

  1. Towards the end of the article it says this

“We have the most significant housing plan in the history of the state involving €4 billion a year in exchequer investment. It will deliver 300,000 homes between now and 2030.”
Is that Irish exchequer money or EU? Would anyone know?

  2. I’m not against capping Ukrainian intake per se but we should halt it until other EU countries start pulling their weight- France for example has only taken in twice as many despite having ten times the population

  3. Well of course, why would there be? Since when has a lack of housing meant a country hasn’t had to fulfil its obligations to refugees?

  4. Squeeze the market even more, raise rent for those that arent able to avail of government funded HAP etc.

Just watch the government will raise HAP to give Landlords even more free money.

  5. The fact that I can drive through town right now and see homeless people (non junkies) sleeping in doorways and under bridges and in alleyways in ripped sleeping bags… yet someone here a day from another country gets a house is beyond me. Goes to show that the government could’ve housed our homeless if they wanted. Useless shower of cunts. I’m not blaming the Ukrainians here. I’m blaming the Irish government. They’ve shown that their own people is not their top priority, which it should be for every government. Anything for a good bit of international news for them.
