Laughter and forgetting with Liz as she prepares to break Brexit deal

  1. >Truss’s gullibility is almost endearing. She lives in a tabula rasa world where every day starts again anew. She is in a permanent state of forgetting. So when it was repeatedly pointed out to her that the Convict had insisted his Brexit deal was compatible with the Good Friday agreement, she could only stick her fingers in her ears and start humming to herself.

    >And when she was reminded she had campaigned to stay in the EU and her younger self would have been horrified at the thought of breaking international law, she responded by sobbing that she was a patriot. MPs half expected her to hand out pictures of herself draped in the union flag, taken by her own vanity photographer. It was also surprising that Johnson hadn’t nabbed the excuse for himself. He had only repeatedly broken the law because it was what the country would have wanted of him.

    >“It’s OK to break the law because it’s a necessity,” Truss insisted. …

  2. ‘She needed to return to the process of conscious uncoupling from herself. To work on her forgetting. To return to the morning’s state of unknowing. The real Liz. Even more stupid than the day she was born’

    Ouch

  3. A country full of strikes due to the cost of living, and yet we have these scumbags adding fuel to the fire yet again. [Bang goes any remaining businesses trading with the EU](https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/uk-firms-bankrupt-insolvent-borrowing-brexit-295687/). More on benefits, [which currently stands at 22.8m](https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/dwp-benefits-statistics-february-2021/dwp-benefits-statistics-february-2021). Absolute zero empathy with the people of the country. The only reason they are attacking the NI protocol is because of the like of Steve Baker and his mates who run a 80 strong group called the [ERG](https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/dark-money-investigations/revealed-tory-mps-using-taxpayers-cash-to-fund-sec/) within the Tory party.

They say this is smashing business in NI, and yet David Davies let loose that it is only 20 businesses affected by the protocol. How many businesses have gone under in the mainland UK since Brexit was started?

  4. Looking in from outside (Ireland), I’m wondering who the audience is for this? the British Public (but Brexit got done)? the insane DUP (voted out of power and their votes not needed in Westminster)? the EU (slowly progressing legal behemoth)? the US and Ireland (who are curious as to when, not if, the U-turn will happen when reality come knocking)?

  5. Truss is miles out of her depth here. She has no business being a senior member of the Cabinet and should be sent back to the backbenches where her skills are better suited for. She backs Johnson and is easily manipulated though, which is why she has been allowed to rise so high. There are those hoping she will be the future Tory leader so they can lead from the shadows through her, that is how gullible she is. People destroyed Diane Abbott for getting some figures wrong but Truss is no better and lives in a permanent state of confusion that dwarfs anything we have seen from any other MP.
