UK national lottery ticket sales hit by cost of living crisis, says Camelot

  1. I’d be more inclined to buy if I knew all my proceeds, or even the majority were going to good causes. But they’re not, instead we’re yet again lining the pockets of the fat cats up top.
Nah, I’m good thanks. Charity starts at home.

  2. There’s probably more to it than simply “the cost of living crisis” because if there is one industry that does well out of recessions, it’s the gambling industry.

To be honest, the lottery these days is a clusterfuck of different games, with the rules changed to try and generate more “big jackpot” events, which is what really drives sales. There really is not that much point playing on “normal” weeks.

  3. Makes sense, people’s rational minds kick in to gear when theyre struggling.
‘1 in 50 million chance’ actually means something when you need to buy bread instead.

  4. Boohoo, the lotto offering keeps getting shitter and shitter with every change anyway.

  5. Adding extra numbers to decrease people’s chance of winning, increasing prices so you can make more money, and fewer payouts then complaining people aren’t taking part.

I think the Scottish have a saying, something like “get tae fuck”
