Johnson’s political career might be over but the journalists and newspaper owners that enabled him are still going strong. This might be a setback for them but they’re still there ready to peddle lies and support the next charlatan that comes along.
Good article, surprised that the BBC wasn’t named as one of the enablers. Didn’t enjoy reading this part though, it’s a chilling thought for the future:
> Rob Ford of Manchester University points out Johnson’s approval ratings are at 23%, the same level Nigel Farage achieved at the peak of Ukip’s success. There’s a minority demand for a charismatic leader to sell the line that the corrupt elite sold Brexit and “the people” down the river. Look out for what Farage and Johnson do next. There’s still a market for them.
Presumably his Telegraph column was only on hold while he was PM, and it’ll no doubt start back up once he’s out properly
Farage has been very quiet so far. Keeping his head down for once.
Nice to see the press finally using the correct language to describe Johnson – shame it’s 3 years too late, really.
Always GB news is present n will be welcoming Boris with open arms n a lot of adverts, LBC would be far less welcoming with the presenters now not all far right nut jobs. Ant n Dec will be there with a few weeks eating kangaroo nackers n doing what old Doreen Noriss did.
Hardly a surprise when they’re all plums deep with Etonian toastrackery.
>He won so well because by that stage Jeremy Corbyn was extremely unpopular.
Did any Observer columnists claim Corbyn was literally Hitler aiding Johnson’s victory?
Guardian writing this as if they didn’t mercilessly slaughter Corbyn and effectively cheer for a Tory victory like every other newspaper in the immediate run up to the election.
