I don’t think Patel counted on people not agreeing with her and seeing migrants as people. You would hope that even people who are not pro-migrant think they deserve better than being treated like dangerous criminals by a woman mad with power.
Literally no one in the Royal Navy was ever onboard with this. We all operate under the law of armed conflict, so shooting some unarmed refugees was never going to happen, and under maritime law, we’re obliged to take survivors on board, look after them, and then drop them off at the safest port where the local government can offer them assistance. We’ll probably turn their boat into splinters once we take them onboard, but never with unarmed souls on board.
She should just PM me. If they won’t do the job I will do it myself.
We’re never going to achieve any measure of control over migration to the UK, are we? It’s nothing but constant increase every year until the end of time.

She is the most detestable government minister I can think. She is responsible for many deaths of refugees and should be tried for mass murder at The Hague.
