Call the number or check the booking portal around 11:30pm. You’ll get an appointment for your local centre some time in the next week if you’re not picky about the time.
I went on the cancellation list and got a test within 2 weeks. The date I was getting through booking online was 2 months later.
I believe the 4 month allowance from covid is still in place, but in the same boat, trying to get my moms car booked in, keep checking after midnight.
They’d solve alot of the backlog if they gave you a year or two years from the date the car is tested, a friend of mine bought a 162 car and got a 4 month NCT on it after it passed. I don’t get why if two cars pass the same road safety test beside each other on the same day they can get completely different renewal dates. With the backlog and covid there so many cars out there that are out of date by months
