  1. This is the translation of the article in English:

Former Polish President Lech Walesa suggests that Russia’s population be reduced to “less than 50 million!”

In an interview with the French television station LCI (La Chaine Info), Lech Walesa, the former president of Poland and founder of the anti-communist movement Solidarity, said that global security could be ensured through a “revolt of the peoples annexed by Russia ”.

Walesa urges the West to go further than liberating Ukraine, and calls for Russia to be liberated: “Even if Ukraine wins this war, we may be in the same situation in five years, and in ten years we will see a another Putin getting up, “warned Lech Walesa.

He believes that in order for this scenario to be avoided, a change in Russia’s domestic political system must be forced, and suggests “organizing a revolt of the peoples of this country.”

For Walesa, only one thing can ensure world security: the dismemberment of present-day Russia, which he sees as a great imperial power: “There are 60 peoples who have been annexed, as some Ukrainians are today. “These peoples should rise to the battle because there are only two options: either the Russian political system is completely changed, or Russia must be reduced to a population of less than 50 million,” said Lech Walesa.

The current population of the Russian Federation is around 144 million.

  2. This was a reasonable goal about 200 years ago. Russia, in the same vein as the US, has brutally colonized, subjugated and ultimately replaced the indigenous populations living within it’s borders. The numbers are not as extreme as in the US, but still enough to make ethnic Russians a majority, or at least a very large minority, even in territories and republics that still have significant original populations.

For the sake of sustainable peace as well as the well being of the population of “not-Moscow-or-SPB”-russians I’d certainly like to see Russia split into smaller nations.

Wheter it’s truely realistic or not has to be decided by the russians involved. I don’t see any real way this could be enforced from outside, even softly.

  3. Isn’t this guy a known communist spy?

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is getting paid to make these statements. In terms of Russian propaganda material nothing beats “former Polish president wants to give half of our country to the Tartars.”

  4. There is little logic in this. Most of the minority republics have huge Russian minorities or Russians are the majority.

There is also very little regional difference between Russians. The is no “the south”, the “Midwest” etc.

It would just cause lots of ethnic tension, militancy and poverty. As we have seen well throughout the cold war period, dividing nations results in nothing good.

  5. Guys, this guy is literally crazy.

He’s a megalomaniac, known collaborator and a figure which is mostly ignored nowadays, because he seriously goes crazy.

  6. As long as russians are fighting amongst themselves they pose no threat to their neighbors. This was a standard tactic of theirs when advancing west during WWII – remain the third party in a fight and pick up the scraps eg Warsaw uprising – the russian fucks just watched and waited. Now it’s our turn, Balkanize the RF. And don’t even bother with BS about nuclear theft etc. these Fetal Alcohol Syndrome operatives couldn’t even organize an orgy in a brothel.
