Central Bank Illinois is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Peru branch, which it said has grown over the past decade while supporting local organizations throughout the Illinois Valley, according to a release from the bank.

The bank entered the Peru market in 2016, beginning in what it described as a modest strip mall location without an established customer base, according to the release. It now operates from a branch at 1721 Midtown Road.

Over the past decade, the bank said its Peru operation has supported more than 50 local organizations and community events, contributing more than $150,000 in charitable donations along with sponsorships, volunteer hours and leadership support.

“Ten years ago, we entered the Peru market as the new bank in town with a vision to serve this community in a meaningful way,” Community Bank President Neal Knauf said.

“The growth we’ve experienced is a direct result of the trust our customers have placed in us and the dedication of our employees. We are honored to have become a valued part of the Peru community.”

Central Bank Illinois described itself as a locally focused community bank serving individuals, families, farmers and businesses through a network of 10 branches. The bank is a member of the FDIC and an equal housing lender.
