AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT)- The City of Amsterdam said it is recognizing local nonprofit food pantries as more families face pressure from rising food prices and higher living costs.

The city said food pantries remain an important resource for people and families in the Amsterdam community who are dealing with food shortages and affordability.

The City of Amsterdam said these groups help reduce grocery costs for residents in need and help make sure people have access to food.

The city identified Royal Pantry Corporation, Amen Soup Kitchen, Catholic Charities and the Fulmont Community Action Agency as groups that operate food pantries in the community.

The City of Amsterdam said those organizations play an important role in strengthening the community through food assistance.

The city thanked volunteers, supporters and leaders at Amsterdam’s nonprofit food pantries for what it called their valuable service and impact on residents.
