A great article by Dean Blundell, focused on the most insane parts of the Orange Dump 💩 ‘s interview with TIME Magazine.

“Five weeks before the midterms, with his approval rating scraping the bottom of the pool, a war in Iran grinding into its seventh month and the national debt blowing through $40 trillion, Donald Trump invited TIME into the Oval Office for what his staff clearly hoped would be a nice, friendly reset. What they got instead was an hour of an 80-year-old man inventing election results, inventing TV ratings, inventing approval numbers in a foreign country, renaming artificial intelligence because it reminds him of CNN, threatening to wipe out an entire nation in the name of peace, and finishing the whole thing with a profane, photo-waving meltdown because nobody had asked him about his woodwork. If a Canadian premier gave this interview, the caucus would be changing the locks by lunch. In Washington, it’s a Monday.”

SOME OF THE DOOZIES…

He won 86% of the vote, apparently!

“Asked why he’s restricting White House access for outlets he doesn’t like, Trump did what he always does when cornered. He went back to 2024. He won all seven swing states, he said. He won the counties. He won 86% of the popular vote…

…announced a margin of victory that would make the Kremlin’s election officials blush.

He then called Kaitlan Collins the most unhappy young person he’s ever met, said he’d get bad press even if he cured cancer, and complained…

The four-week war is in month seven, and it’s your fault for believing him

TIME asked the obvious question. He sold the Iran war as a short one. Why is it still going? Trump’s answer was that the press “fed” the public that timeline.

The press didn’t feed anybody anything. Operation Epic (Epstein) Fury launched February 28…

He followed that by claiming Iran’s inflation is running at 300% “or something like that.” Iran’s own central bank put it at 84% at the end of August….

Bragged that more oil moved through the Strait of Hormuz the night before than at any time in history…

His own Energy Secretary, Chris Wright, said on Fox there was a single day last week that topped 20 million barrels, and that the running average is closer to 13 million barrels a day. That’s about 77% of pre-war traffic. One good day on a shipping lane that’s been a warzone for half a year isn’t a record. It’s a fluke he’s planning to frame.

Annihilation is how you get peace

This was the moment the interview stopped being funny

He claimed the Iranian regime murdered between 72,000 and 75,000 protesters…

…When the truth is already a massacre, you’d think a president could resist juicing it, but the man can’t help himself. Numbers are vibes to him.

TIME reminded him that last week he threatened to annihilate Iran, and asked how a man who calls himself the president of peace squares that circle…

99% of Israelis love him (no, they don’t)

Trump told TIME he’s popular in Israel, “like 99%.” There is No such poll…

…He also told TIME that without him, Saudi Arabia and Israel would have been wiped off the face of the planet. Both countries managed to exist for decades before he discovered them, and they’ll likely carry on after he’s gone, possibly with a sigh of relief.

His Supreme Court picks owe him a favour

Trump complained that Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett vote against him too often after he handed them “the position of a lifetime.” ….

…..then said he admires the liberal justices for sticking together, praising their loyalty…

On birthright citizenship, he said the 14th Amendment was only meant for the children of slaves, and wasn’t meant for Chinese people. The case that cemented birthright citizenship in American law, United States v. Wong Kim Ark in 1898, was about the American-born son of Chinese immigrants. Out of every group on earth he could have picked, he picked the one the precedent is literally named after.

The debt is Biden’s fault, five years into Trump

TIME pointed out the debt has climbed $11 trillion during his five years in office. Trump blamed Biden. Of course he did…

…And then the real gem. The man who campaigned on crushing inflation casually told TIME that certain levels of inflation will help pay off the debt very rapidly. Every family in Michigan paying $4.50 for gas will be delighted to learn their misery is the plan.

Drug prices down 600%

Trump claimed his drug-pricing deals cut costs by 40, 50, 60, 70, even 80%, then added that you could call it 400, 500, or 600% depending on how you phrase it. You can’t phrase your way past math. A 100% price cut means the pill is free. A 600% cut means the pharmacist is handing you money on your way out…
