We’ve overexploited the planet, now we need to change if we’re to survive | UK Chief Scientific Advisor

  1. Omg! Let us be realistic. We will never change. But our grand children , if not too late, may. Only a huge real huge catastrophic event could force our elected politicians to move their asses and impose rough decisions. Just see the covid effects. Already gone. Pollution, travels, blind consumers are on the rise again. Stop advertising. Stop movies that promote the fucking american way of life. And improve our kids education. Cheeers!

  2. Ok, the UK would change, Europe also. China, Brazil, Russia wouldn’t change, but you’ll still blame the UK.

  3. We need to stop the sun from shining. It’s making the North of England quite warm on some days. Generally in the summer.

  4. Overexploited the planet by producing and using things that people want. It all comes down to the fact that there are too many people on the planet. And still the population grows. It’s up by over 42 million this year so far

  5. Don’t care. We all die eventually. When it’s too hot, go the pub. When it’s too wet, use an umbrella and wellies.

  6. This is why green capitalism is a terrible idea. Electric cars are the Prius of today: they seem like the solution but are far from it. We cannot all own one with the limited amount of rare earth metals on the planet, not if we want other green tech to keep the lights on at night. It is something no one wants to point out but the only way to save ourselves is for everyone to consume less and for resources to be pumped into essentials like agriculture, healthcare and housing over consumerism. It will never happen but it is the only real solution that does not involve kicking the can down the road.
