Ex-Chancellor Rishi Sunak launches bid to be Conservative leader

  1. He says he wants to rebuild the economy, what a shot at whoever was in charge of that for the last few years.

  2. Hopefully he’s too close to Johnson and his baggage for this to become a reality.

Not that there are any good options for Tory leader.

  3. A prime minister with a history of tax evasion? No matter how hard we scrape, we never seem to find the bottom of this barrel…

  4. I wonder how long he’s had all this “ready for Rishi” branding tucked away and ready to go.
Already had Tory MPs backing him publicly.

  5. The billionaire whose wife didn’t pay UK tax due to non domicile, tax evasion purposes wants a chance to lead the country and patch up the struggling economy?

    LOL.

  6. This has an overwhelming feeling of US-style politics, with only the richest getting a shot at the top job. He’s so out of touch.

  7. It’s like we’re living in that 2 part Thick of It special where everyone resigns and Ben thinks he could become PM

  8. I really think he might be the next PM.

He was fined by the police whilst working in office. He’s so rich he lives on another planet. He props up his wife’s tax evasion. Has no idea what it’s like to live as a normal citizen in this country.

I’d say he is everything the Conservatives are looking for. An over-rich, out of touch piece of shit.

  9. The man who has 5 houses in 4 country’s, a man who held on to his US passport to help him mitigate tax bills, a man involved at Lloyds with the collapse of our economy when he and his bosses bets spectacularly failed, wants to be our new PM?

    nah, lads a wasteman.

  10. He’s a real snake who has shown he has no honour, scruples or idea about the economy. From the sounds of his resignation letter he thinks that Boris was going to be too soft fiscally and that he thought hard decisions need to be made. More austerity I guess, because the last 12 years have shown that cutting services to the bone achieves… What?

I don’t like him or trust him. Just three days after knifing his mate in the back he tries to take his mate’s job. What kind of Prime Minister would he be to stoop so low?

I really hate all political parties, think they are all on the make and serving an agenda that has little to do with the majority of people in this country. We are doomed no matter what happens or who wins.

  11. Who is going to be the least bad option of the Tories? Mad when the options are Javid, Sunak, Patel, Truss, Rabb, JRM and Hunt.

Like. They are all utterly awful.

  12. I won’t be voting Conservative if he gets in, he’s ruined the economy, too many freebies when he was in…furlow not managed, billions OF OUR MONEY, TAXPAYERS MONEY, wasted

  13. We need a general election now, because whether it’s down to Conservative MPs or the party we’ll end up with someone like Rishi Sunak, totally out of touch with normal people, only there to serve big business and make sure no-one goes near their offshore money.

  14. Just what we need… Another billionaire giving tax breaks to his mates and more “trickle down” economics.

  15. Has all the money in the world and doesn’t use it to help out humanity.

Yet he gets a solid erection for the power that comes through politics and “helping” that way. How about philanthropy?

  16. Nope. Not a good choice for Prime Minister. Not even a good choice for caretaker Prime Minister. A piss taker Prime Minister? Yes, of course. But not any other sort of Prime Minister.

  17. I think the whole green card fiasco isn’t highlighted enough. He actively wanted to permanently immigrate to another country, and now he wants to be Prime Minister? It’s ok to temporarily work elsewhere, but to become a permanent resident of another country?

  18. It’s interesting that he registered readyforrishi domain months ago which redirects to his new ready4rishi domain 🤔
