I have no doubt he faced genuine issues, but the “revenge” he’s so happy about here almost certainly was against people who’d not done a thing to him. (Or, in all likelyhood, most of them, to anyone.).
Now, I wouldn’t say he’s done anything wrong here, of course, he hasn’t really done anything as far as this “revenge” is concerned, but what he’s quoted stating here just doesn’t make sense.
South Korea scored the first goal in like the 91st (?) minute and Germany needed a win. His goal in the 95th (?) minute was totally irrelevant.
He overestimates himself and maybe should rather focus on winning something other than the Audi cup.
“[…]And while going through such a really difficult time, I had a lot of thoughts on my mind I should get my revenge one day.”
Well this isn’t ominouse at all. He sounds like a reasonable, just, honest individual, if he makes such a statement. Nothing wrong with taking his words at face value, I am sure of it.
Interesting how he also faced racism in the english(?) footbal club he moved to after Leverkusen.
From personal experience, I never experienced much racism as an Asian living in Germany. I even lived in Saxony for a couple of years.
HOWEVER! Having been to a couple of soccer games, I must say that the amount of racism displayed by fans is mind boggling.
So while “regular non German looking people” like me might not experience a lot of day to day racism in the streets, I do understand that especially football players are probably having a much different experience.
That being said.. I’d be surprised if playing in England is any better lol.
I like how he tries to implement a collective punishment

Is this some game thing?
I can see that.
Have a couple Asian friends that live here and they said that the racism was pretty high – Before Covid unfortunately also
