I had to send back an item to an online-shop.
I had to pay [posten.no](https://posten.no) 129kr for the shipment (*Norgespakke).*
Just now, I was notified that the package can be picked up in a COOP Prix.
* Is that normal?
* Will someone at the shop bother to go to the convenience store to pick up a package?
* How are they notified a package is awaiting to be picked up?
I do have the option **now** to pay extra to 89kr for “Levering På døren” (Why it wasn’t an option in the first place when I paid for the shipment????)

I don’t understand the process. Can you enlighten me?

Struggling to get your meaning here.You don’t have to pay yourself anything in this country.
– Yes it is normal to pick your packages up at the convenience store, as the actual transporters never show up on time.- Will someone at what shop, go to where, to pick up what?- How are who notified with what?
If you send something to a private address, they will get a notice in their mail box that a package didn’t fit, and can be picked up at the local boxed wherever they might be.
Edit: If you don’t pick up your package, it will be sendt back to wherever it came from.
Normally online shops will arrange the shipping for returned items so that you just have to print out a label and deliver it to a drop-off location near you. That way they can ensure that the shipping type used is something that is convenient for them to receive as a business. If they want the customers to pay for the return postage they can just deduct it when they refund the original payment for the goods that are returned.
The receiver of the package gets a notification in the mail (letterbox) that there is a package for them to pick up.
Norgespakke is a product that is intended for shipping packages to private individuals, not to businesses.
You didn’t share which online store this is, so I have no idea if they will bother with picking up your package or not. If it is a small business and they want to be helpful then they probably will go pick it up. If they want to be difficult they will probably just wait until it is returned back to you. If it is a big company that uses this system for returns they probably get so many that they go pick them up daily.
