Ukraine hopes to assemble a “million strong” army to try to retake territory occupied by Russia, the defence minister, Oleksii Reznikov, said over the weekend. Its forces, he added, had also demonstrated to the US it could make good use of newly acquired longer-range rocket artillery, opening the door to the supply of more.
Hopefully that works out for them.
Even better would be if Russia had a modicum of decency and walked away.
Don’t they already outnumber the Russians by a lot?
I really hope that too. But how? That’s a lot of people. Unless they want to go partisan/ guerilla warfare, i don’t know how they want to get to those numbers.
For obvious reasons we don’t know much about Ukranian troop size and location. I heard they were building an army near the capital, but that was months ago.
Honest question: Is that even realistic or is this just propaganda?
I want to believe it.
They have the people. Thousands of international volunteers would be more than willing to serve Ukraine. The main problems are training, mobilization and weapons. Despite the billions of dollars of aid flowing in, it’s still not enough to arm every soldier, yet.
