  5. Dan Wooton, who wrote the dailymail article is a specific special type of “journalist“ who lives by being the useful idiot who will put his name to any edgy and “provocative“ piece of pish!

    It is perfect fodder for the masses who need someone to hate and be angry with, Wooton is the one pointing them in the direction of a hate outlet .

    They fan the flames of division and then gasp and clutch their pearls when they push someone over the edge to commit hate crimes. It’s a fabulously entertaining and rewarding endeavour for them.

    Both of them have lied and lied and lied and now reality is coming knocking and they’re scrambling like rats leaving a sinking ship trying desperately to say anything to make it seem as though their lies have any purchase on the world the rest of us live in, but they don’t, so they’re doing this.

    The breakneck schizophrenia of it is because they always knew it was lies. The difference between traditional populism and this latest iteration is literally conviction.

    Previous populists *actually believed* their own rhetoric, which is why they spouted it from a soapbox.

    Boris doesn’t even believe the shit that rolls out of his mouth on a daily basis and DM writers have always had a sneering contempt for their audience, trying to get them to accept increasingly demented takes on obviously simple issues.

    Now that reality is unavoidable they’re left holding their genitals in the most egregious way and so the blame game scatterguns in all directions.

    I find this sound bite so utterly fascinating, the gov is trying so hard to make this into something that no one outside the UK even thinks about or acknowledges.

    Absolutely no one but the UK has turned the Ukraine war into a competition on who supports it the most.

    I can only assume they’re doing it to deflect from the countless of other problems facing the UK and are desperate to appear to still matter on the global scale.

    So it fascinates me endlessly when I see redditors bringing this up constantly like it actually means anything that people care about.

    If I recall correctly, 47% was the Tory vote share in England in 2019. Whoever wrote that article must be aware that approximately half the country never supported any of those things.

    Desperate stuff and really sad that one of (the?) most read newspaper is so unashamedly biased.
