New video of the proposed Metrolink

  1. Just get on with building it please. They’ve been talking about this since I was a kid. I’m middle-aged now and it’s still not even started.

  2. Video didn’t contain any people blocking entrances looking for 2 euro nor any graffiti all over the place and is therefore fake news.

  3. Can ye all please stop complaining. This is a positive development but almost every comment about this over the last few days has been negative.

  4. Better late than never. However the gangs of Canada-Goose-wearing teenage wasters, who have ruined the city these last few years, will undoubtedly make shit of this experience. Hopefully there’s decent security.

  5. Embarrassing that it ends in Charliemount. The line out was actually designed to take a metro but a few people complained and they canned it

  6. I hate these people so much. The bare minimum we should expect is to have had some form of metro about 15 years ago.
Now they’re like look at our flashy metro that’ll exist in 13 fucking years if it even gets built.

  7. Ngl this like dart underground feels like some Elon Musk vaporware salesmanship. Slick graphics, hopefully actually delivers at some point in my lifetime.

  8. It won’t happen. This is extremely vulnerable to a change of government and SF would love nothing more than to cancel a FFG “white elephant” for purely political purposes.

  9. They’ve put more effort into that video than they have into building the fucking thing.

Also I can’t wait to see one train every 20-30 minutes and such a desperate lack of security that it because avoidable all together.

  10. Call me crazy here, and I know this is an insane proposal, but how about some infrastructural investment on public transport outside of Dublin instead of insanely expensive, pointless, metro system that serves the Northside and town. If you’re already in town, then a metro to the airport is pure unnecessary, there’s as many bus routes as you want to the airport.

Another example of our governmental policy being “look EU, we’re just like you!” instead of actually doing anything to serve/benefit the Irish people.

Anytime EU friends of mine visit, they are simply flabbergasted at how difficult it is to see anything outside of Dublin without a car. We are not on continental Europe and we never will be.

  11. The video looks good, the idea will most likely be delayed again and run over budget before they even break ground

  12. Step 1) Announce “new” metro.

Step 2) Announce the starting date for after the next election

    Step 3) Wait for recession

Step 4) Cancel due to “lack of funds”

Step 5) Wait a few years

Step 6) Go to step 1.

  13. Looks heavily inspired by the Elizabeth line in London which is good. The stations and platforms look almost identical. This should hopefully mean they can bring in a lot of expertise from people who’ve worked on the Elizabeth line and try avoid some of the problems they encountered on that project.

Also the fact this doesn’t need to coexist with legacy stations or existing railway lines allows for driverless trains and a consistent system through the whole route.

  14. It would work if Dublin was what the government try so hard to market it as, but in reality it’s a filthy shit hole of a city and no one will into that underground in fear of being stabbed by junkie robbed or attacked by a scumbag in a tracksuit .
