I assume the usual cadre of folk who hate anyone with money will downvote this, but I was struck by how kind a gesture this was today and thought it would be nice to share some positivity.

  1. I’m with you OP. Small businesses usually remain as onlookers when big names come to town; and often over staff just in case there’s a boom, only to be swarmed by browsing Bettys who ooh and aww at their wares and leave 2 mins later.

Some might see it as a bit gauche to give that kind of money out but it’s a sign of solidarity and appreciation for the locals and the area.

  2. I think its neat. 20% of each purchase will go to local charities and causes, whilst the rest stays with businesses in the area.

    60 cards means €600k. That’s €120k for charities.

  3. I don’t hate people with money, but it does amaze me that people think that this is great, because some of it is going to small businesses and charity. Giving 10,000 credit cards to already wealthy people just doesn’t seem to be the best way of going about it.
