During more than 100 years of the Flemish movement, the Flemish Lion came in many different shapes. The photo shows a selection of flags from our collections, dating from the period 1900-1945.

Since 1973 the official Flemish flag is ‘*Or, a lion rampant armed and lagued Gules*’, meaning: a black lion with red claws and tongue on a yellow field.

Happy holiday to our Flemish fellow countrymen!

You should add [these to the collection](https://preview.redd.it/06uv6o4487j81.jpg?auto=webp&s=ae781c2aa0384d7131eccbe53ff51f843d6a7c5f)
nog iemand van mening dat onze Belgische en Vlaamse vlaggen beide gat lelijk zijn?
Looks like a wedding party where they´re all doing the macarena, but those two idiots on the right keep spinning in the wrong direction.

1st one gives some Ferrari logo vibes
The top left one is cool, what was that one used for?
Peugeot
maar stop met communauteiten en confederalisme alstublieft…
These do look like the original designer never saw a lion in his life and was going off some vague descriptions
I quite like all the different designs.
But what’s up with that first one, the red flag with yellow circle. Do you have more information about that one?
I find the Flemish flag so ridiculous and I wish we replaced it with an animal native to Flanders, like the Flemish jay.
Waar zijn wij eigenlijk trots op als “Vlaming”?
Those 2 in the bottom left look so derpy, unlike that majestic one above it with like 5 tails…
Ik heb vandaag enkele Vlaamse leeuwen ondersteboven zien hangen, of gekanteld
Iemand die een idee heeft of dit een bepaalde betekenis heeft?
It’s a pity that I’ve learned to predominantly see this flag as a symbol of hate because it’s so often flown by racists.
