I *literally* started listening to the podcast about him/Bigfoot YESTERDAY. Its pretty good, the host used to work for NPR.
It is called Wildthing.
Not my style but one has to admire the devotion.
I guess the big question is. Was the dog still alive when he died and is there a sad story here?
