Some of these rankings say, Germany is nit good for settling in etc. How reliable are these?

  1. In terms of career, and medical support absolutely

In terms of culture and fitting in, only somewhat since I recently moved to a big city with a lot of foreigners like myself.

  2. I’ve lived in Germany as a student and employee for a while. I am currently in the US (temporarily) and I do like it, but I can’t wait to go back to Germany.

I was pretty unhappy due to some personal issues, but when it comes to the place itself I was very much content. I’ve always thought so many Germans complain about their country way beyond what’s healthy and do not understand just how good they have it.

That said, I have lived across different German regions and I feel the South (Bavaria-Baden) is really the sweet spot for me. I wouldn’t be as happy in the East or in the Ruhr.

  3. I’d say there’s very little overlap between people who insist on calling themselves expats and people who like it here.
