Bastards, doing absolutely nothing to try solve the rental market.
I bet there’s zero detail about actual legislation.
kafkaesque complexity, you now need planning permission to rent your place out.
I considered renting my house out, as I need the cash, and considered moving in with family but was advised not to by accountant.
Unless you’re a Jacky Healy-Rea size landlord with a business structure it’s all tax and regulations and you get very little at the end.
Good, the fact it places a duty on the host websites should ensure we see it enforced. Loads of AirBnBs operating without planning (I’d say the majority) so this should free up a few rental properties, particularly in city centres.
And nothing will change because they’re a tiny proportion of the housing stock and it’s a totally artificial issue championed by fools and scoundrels who want to convince the desperate and the gullible this is a problem.
Good idea, though it’s rather poor that it only applies to rent pressure zones.
It should apply to the entire country. Why is illegally renting out a place without the appropriate planning permission okay in some areas?
And not enforce them.
They need to give developers land to build, on the condition they sell the houses at a pre agreed price.
They also need to cut VAT on new builds until this housing crisis is over.
We’re not gonna regulate ourselves out of this problem i’m afraid.
A short term let is 14 days or fewer – correct ?
Will this just mean everyone does 15 days or more now
When ya order a cheese and ham sandwich from this government, you get the empty wrapper. Yeah it’s the right label , yeah it’s the right idea but there’s nothing inside as far as content. This will be another unrewarding piece of legislation
