  1. Wow! Kraft Foods, an American company, succumbing to employees’ demands? I wonder what they have in store for their future.

  2. Those Kraft-y bastards will probably replace the cocoa content with sawdust, or the glass and a half of milk will go down to 33% ‘malk’ to make up the difference.

  3. 17% over two years so a restorative, inflation-matching 9-10% this year followed by another smaller rise next year. Unless the inflation rate falls sharply they’re basically standing still.

  4. Anyone else wonder if these strikes are finally becoming effective now because of Brexit? It caused a labour shortage and now they can’t hire from the EU the workers finally have some bargaining power.

  5. Factory workers are like gold dust at the moment. No way kraft would have caved in to this otherwise. Where I work they have resorted to regular £30 ASDA voucher bonuses and setting up shifts with good hours for 6th formers and uni students.

  6. In tomorrow’s news: Cadbury announces closure of all UK manufacturing with production being moved to ***insert country with cheaper labour***

  7. One: yay

Two: why is the picture of the old cadburys bar? Not seen a flat top bar since the takeover and subsequent fall in quality. Been all rounder tops since then.

Maybe us northerners don’t get flat tops I don’t know.

  8. The company I work for cut our benefits so our millionaire owner didn’t feel the pinch as much.

I mean, poor bastard has 5 houses to pay for, most of us are only renting the one. Must be hard for him.

  9. Im confused as to why this is being reported as a 17.5% pay rise unless its to do with the increased holiday pay, which confuses me even more.

    Year 1 is a 6.5% pay rise.

    Year 2 is a 5.5% pay rise.

Average holiday pay increased from 20 to 25 days.

Its still a great pay rise for them, im just confused why its being reported the way it is.

Also, great work from both the workers and the union and well done kraft (as much as i hate you for ruining cadbury), credit where its due.

  10. Good news for the Cadbury folk. Nice to see a company put its hand in its pocket and value its workers. I’ll buy a whole nut now and again and forgo other choclity brands in the future.

  11. watch them lay off 17.5% of their workforce. this kind of thing often makes a nice news story but doesn’t mean what people think it does. people lose their jobs, product quality drops, costs get cut.
