They stood by him until it was no longer politically advantageous for them. It had nothing to do with integrity or moral outrage.
My vexation and rage has always been aimed at the people who voted him into high office. They are the true enablers. They are the people who wanted someone like Johnson this to lead the country.
If you voted Tory, you did this.
That’s what they want.. any faults can go with Johnson and the next puppet will stand up and be just a bad but will keep blaming on Johnson.. they do it time and time again.. 12 years they been in power still blame labour
100%.
Boris wasn’t the problem. He was the symptom of a government that has zero accountability for its actions.
But I hope we can also lower the temperature of politics. Boris Johnson wasn’t competent but he was definitely not evil incarnate. We’ve got to stop painting everyone we don’t agree with as evil. In other European countries my understanding is that politics is a lot more collegiate. We desperately need proportional representation.
Let’s not get complacent. The Tory party allowed for this skulduggery, they need to be voted out when the time comes, regardless of who is the next leader.
No, I’ll stick with my anger at the Bodger. A useless twat who punched down, encouraged right wing populism, lied through his teeth and brought about the disaster that was Brexit through sheer opportunism.
Decent, honest people are struggling to pay for petrol, pay the bills, pay the mortgage, in some cases, and it’s growing, even afford to feed themselves and their family.
This assbasket can look forward to book advances, guest speaking fees, newspaper columns and invites for holidays and parties from his rich mates.
Makes me fucking sick.
Enabler no.1 is Corbyn and all those who supported him, including the author of this article. Without JC there’s no Johnson premiership.
indeed. the tory party have built boris up into the perfect scapegoat despite him doing what most of them wanted.
This conservative government are basically career criminals. They have bled this country dry to line their own pockets and now they’re jumping ship right at the last minute to protect their own careers. None of them have the interest of the UK public at their core. Boris’s role in all this isn’t done yet either. He has to linger on as a belligerent maniacal tyrant for just long enough until every one of his cronies has formally, and very publicly, denounced him so that they can show everyone that JUST BORIS is the problem. NOT US! We want him gone too but he just wont leave! His current mission is to distance himself from the conservative party as much as possible. Do not trust these lying, sneaky, rats.
Many have quit his Cabinet but they are still MPs and will be under the next leader. Johnson has gone but his legacy will last a long time and the Tories are still going to be what Johnson has made them.
The conservatives are severely damaged now
With Boris gone, so has Starmers chance of being PM.
Hopefully some lawsuits are brewing against them for negligence and harm caused to the country by pilfering the treasury and handing it out to bogus companies over brexit and covid. There’s got to be a reckoning.
Its the people of the UK that make it the UK, not these muppets.
Yep, I’m guessing none of the prospective candidates to replace the lying buffoon will be making it a priority in their manifesto to clear out the sleaze in the party and investigate and prosecute all instances of misconduct in public office, fraud by abuse of position, sexual assault etc, prima facie evidence of which is already in the public domain. Given that it is the sleaze and lying that brought Johnson down, one would think that the best chance of the Conservative Party gaining public confidence would be to tackle this as a priority and appoint a new leader who is not tainted – someone who has been prepared to call Boris out from early on such as when appointed Priti Patel to the Home Office after a report of misconduct (bullying) had been upheld against her. Have there been any Tory members who have consistently been critical of BJ’s rule breaking and lying and are untainted themselves? Can’t think of any offhand.
Any who have endorsed the notion that he should be permitted to remain as caretaker for several months (ie those accepting to serve in interim cabinet can be ruled out for a start).
