Good, the fact it places a duty on the host websites should ensure we see it enforced. Loads of AirBnBs operating without planning (I’d say the majority) so this should free up a few rental properties, particularly in city centres.
“Under the new controls, non-compliance would be an offence for both the individual property owners concerned and the online platforms.”
That’s how you do it. This will wipe a huge amount of places of Airbnb specifically.
Wonder who gets to enforce these new rules ?
Rules are great, enforcement though, that’s what I’m more concerned with, if it’s up to the council, it won’t be enforced, if it’s up to gardai, it won’t be enforced.
If it’s up to revenue it might be, but allot of things are being thrown onto revenue and I haven’t heard of an expansion to revenue in terms of departments or powers with all these new responsibilities coming there way, so I’m highly skeptical
Wonder how this will impact bookings already made? We have a place booked on airbnb for next June.
