What does this mean for the covid enquiry and all the dodgy contracts?
What has become clear is that regardless of freedom of information act or any other legislation that is meant to ensure transparency or fairness it doesn’t mean a thing if there is legal remedy behind it and critically something that the commons can’t vote against by simple majority within the largest party. Its not so much the laws aren’t there, although there is definitely that issue in a lot of areas, but also a lack of enforcement of the ones that exist. MPs have to be held criminally responsible when they break the law like everyone else and we need a system to ensure that can happen, having them vote themselves above the law can’t continue.
We desperately a need a written Constitution.
Actual rules that are legally binding, not just guidelines.
