As an Indian who was constantly asked about the heatwaves in India a couple of months ago, this is my reaction to all my Belgian friends/colleagues who are unable to handle the heat.
De memesvantstad Instagram account wordt beheert door iemand van allochtoonse afkomst (die ook trotse Antwerpenaar is). Dus dan zou het door de beugel moeten kunnen.
Maar de opmerking of een krant wel het perfecte medium is voor memes is natuurlijk wel terecht.

Man man man… dan is er eens wat zelfrelativerende humor en dan is’t er ineens over… ik ben er 40 en ik rol mijn ogen naar de reacties die vinden dat dit op een of andere manier niet grappig zou zijn of “erover” whatever dat zou moeten betekenen, boomers voelen zich aangesproken precies
Onze eigen historische racistische praat wordt terug gespiegeld en we voelen ons gechoqueerd zene… zandbak is ni eens relevant los van die connectie, die dingen zijn per definitie ni eens heet. Ne heteluchtoven had beter geweest maar niet da gevoelig snaartje geraakt dat onze rijke geschiedenis van gezellig in-house racisme is…

If I were to have a problem with this meme, it’s due to it being in a newspaper. I dont mind the joke itsself, people complaining about ”zandbak” should get a grip on themselves

But I don’t think it’s crossing any lines. But it kind of depends on how your read it? If it’s “all allochtonen are coming from a zandbak”, that’s generalizing a lot and pretty close to racism. But if it’s about allochtonen that specifically come from a zandbak country, that seems acceptable. As there is no comma in the sentence, I’d read it more like the latter, but I doubt stupid things like punctuation are something such an account is concerned with.
TIL: people take more issue with a meme in the “gazet” than the biased articles, double standards, and all out lies it and it’s many variants often print/post ……

It’s a bit like the people with handicap, they can laugh with it loud but if a people without a handicap laughs out loud with a people with a handicap it is not right. Maar dat is toch onmogelijk. Als je lacht of kwaad spreekt over je eigen ras, dan is dat toch niet racistisch. Maar het komt bij sommigen wel hard aan. En ik denk de meesten wel, tot ze tocht het besef komen van oei… maar in eerste instantie is het toch moeilijk om een lach te onderdrukken
En wat betreft memes in een krant? Ik zou niet weten waarom niet. Het kan de boel maar meer opvrolijken… er is zoveel venijnigheid en haat die onder de surface drijft. Laar het lis mensen. Leef en leef met elkaar, niet naast elkaar… praat let elkaar… iedereen zou veel gelukkiger zijn…
Als iedereen veegt voor zijn eigen deur is heel de straat proper… Kijk eerst eens naar jezelf als je kritiek wil geven en ga dan even in de schoenen staan van de persoon waarover je een “mening” hebt. Welk gevoel geeft jouw commentaar??? Het inlevingsvermogen van de mensen is naar de testikels. Het is a cold sad world becoming… people should love other people no matter the color, no matter what kajnt of gender, be tolerant and very friendly to people… live and let live…
Ibhave a joke too… there is a marokkan, an algerian and a Turk in a car… wh is driving??? The police
Never laugh when you see a Marokkaan driving on a bike… why??? It can be your bike… and we can go on like that… my huisband and me are laughing very loud with the mops like that…
