WASHINGTON (TNND) — Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made fun of Barack Obama after comments the former president made where he compared the most recent White House renovations to the Cheesecake Factory.
Bessent was eating lunch at a Cheesecake Factory in Washington, D.C. where he was asked about Obama’s comments.
“Well, two things,” Bessent answered. “This is the man who built the museum that looks like Darth Vader’s tomb.”
He said that he always had a good meal at the Cheesecake Factory and said that the “Martha’s Vineyard set” should give it a try.
When asked about what he ordered at the Cheesecake Factory, he said he always got the French dip cheeseburger, according to a clip from Fox Business.
During a campaign appearance in Cleveland, Ohio, Obama criticized Trump’s recent renovations to the White House.
“What’s up with the gold?” Obama asked. “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory, just gold everywhere. He seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV.”
Trump responded to Obama’s comments before leaving for a campaign trip to Mississippi.
“For you to say it’s a Cheesecake Factory — that just shows why you were a lousy president,” he told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. “Walls hadn’t been cleaned for years. He doesn’t notice areas that haven’t been painted.”
