1 in 3 Brits now work from home as more employees demand flexibility – The Big Issue

  1. Not a Brit but I think the governments should encourage home office. You waste less time traveling (less gas too). Working remotely allows people to work from their small town, instead of everyone being stuck in several big cities. Which will lead to more money for other regions in terms of taxes etc.

  2. Not only young workers (what the article refers to)

I’m 57 and working from home 2 days per week, and *loving* it. Would like to increase, but that’s pushing it 😉

    (FWIW, not a Brit)

  3. There are also tons of employers here that force people back in. Because they think it’s unproductive. Employees seem to be disagreeing and taking more flexible working but most of it seems to be 3 days in 2 days out. I work fully remote and did so before the pandemic. It suits me fine, no long expensive commute (our trains are probably the most expensive in Europe)

  4. With diesel at near £2 a litre, it does go some way towards saving me some money.

But then in winter I now have to heat my house all day, which more than undoes all those savings :/

Still, good for the environment maybe?
