Is there a reason to specifically choose Bremen? If not, I would go for other towns like Hamburg or maybe the cologne area.
How long (in time) is a trip that long (in distance) meant to take? One and a half weeks?

And I’d suggest you go from Leipzig to Göttingen and have a look at the Harz.
