Meet the Tourne Expre, a camper van based on a Fiat Ducato L3. It was created by Tourne Campervans, a Pivka, Slovenia-based company specializing in journey-ready, hand-assembled camper vans.

As always, let’s first take a look at the outside. This van doesn’t have that many elements that hint at its “camper DNA” – it has more of a simple exterior setup, at least when compared to other mobile homes.

The vehicle rides on black 16-inch Ducato alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires. On top of the rig, you’ll come across a Thule Omnistor manual awning and a 140 W solar panel.

Other notable exterior mods are a gas adapter, a water hookup, a compartment that houses an outdoor shower, and two windows on the sides. Moreover, a Thule Slide Out electric entry step will make it easier for you to enter.

The van’s inside is a lot more interesting than the exterior. A roomy, cleverly arranged interior will welcome you. Tourne Campervans is all about high quality when it comes to designing interiors.

For instance, the company makes all the furniture in-house. Moreover, it uses a compact material pressed very hard together mixed with resin to create the countertops and tabletops.

You’ll notice poplar plywood cabinetry – poplar plywood is quite popular among camper van builders due to how lightweight it is.

The plywood is then covered with HPL (high pressure laminate) to make it waterproof, and the edges are sealed with ABS tape. This process makes for a light yet solid setup. The rest of the design in this van consists of blue marine-grade flooring and cream-colored wall panels.

The interior has an open layout, with no wall separating the driver’s cabin from the living space. What’s more, the driver and passenger seats, proudly branded with “Tourne,” are mounted on swivel bases.

That means you can turn them around and create a seating area out of the cabin after you’ve parked somewhere. This front seating area continues straight ahead of the entrance in the form of a massive table and a dual bench seat complete with seatbelts.

So, four people can be comfortably accommodated in the front part of the van. Furthermore, above, you’ll come across a large overhead cabinet.

One of the van’s highlights is Tourne’s patented Dream4 system, which allows you to turn the bench and table into a bed that can sleep two kids, or even two adults if they don’t mind a snug fit.

To set it up, you must use the tabletop and several other panels to create a platform which also has slide-out parts. Then, rearrange the cushions and pull out one of the drawers in the kitchen.

Next, we have the kitchen on the passenger side. It features a two-burner stovetop with a cover, a sink with a folding faucet, a tall 78-liter fridge with a freezer compartment, and a flip-up table for additional counter space.

A pull-out pantry, an overhead cabinet, a spice rack, and two large drawers with multiple compartments are available for storage.

On the opposite side, Tourne Campervans installed a facility that most people prefer having when traveling by camper van: a bathroom. It boasts a swiveling toilet, a cabinet with a mirror, and a sink with a pull-out sprayer that doubles as a showerhead.

The final part of the living space is the bedroom in the rear. There’s definitely enough room for two people to be comfortably accommodated here thanks to the large bed – to be specific, it measures 190 centimeters (74 inches) in length and 140 centimeters (55 inches) in width.

Two large panels make up the bed platform. They are attached to hinges and can be lifted up and secured upright. That creates a lot of room to haul large items and lets you step inside the van through the back door and have a hallway spanning the entire length of the van.

The bedroom also offers two overhead cabinets with shelves under them, charging points, an awning-style window on the driver’s side, and a large skylight above that can be opened.

Finally, the space underneath the bedroom was turned into a garage. It offers a decent amount of room for storage and has two boxes on the sides that accommodate part of the utility systems.

Usually, the power system inside a camper van is housed in the garage or at least in the rear part of the van. Things are different inside this rig – the builders installed a 100 Ah battery underneath the passenger seat, and some of the other components in other spots, like in the base of the double bench seat.

Three charging sources are available: solar power, shore power, and DC-DC charging while the engine is running.

As for plumbing, the van is equipped with a 90-liter (23-gallon) freshwater tank, an insulated and heated greywater tank mounted underneath the vehicle, and an outdoor shower. The greywater tank has an electric dump valve, so it can be dumped at the flip of a switch.

The last important utility system in this van is a Webasto air heater. It even has a vent that goes in the bathroom so you can pre-heat it before stepping in for a shower – that also means you can use the bathroom as a drying area. After you’re done showering, you can open the skylight integrated into the bathroom’s ceiling to let the moisture out.

The thermostat for the heater is conveniently located above the van’s sliding door, next to a display that lets you monitor the power and water systems.

All in all, the Tourne Expre is a premium home on wheels that’s fully equipped and ready for the road. There’s one more decisive aspect to mention: pricing.

The Tourne Expre is available starting at €74,725 ($83,652), and it includes everything I presented above, as well as the base vehicle. Extras include a bed step for easy access, a Thule bike rack, and a Truma Combi heater. The conversion itself in its base form costs €13,580 ($15,177) – that’s an excellent deal considering what you’re getting.
