ArtsWatch’s annual donor campaign is officially open and runs from Nov. 1-Dec. 31, with the goal to raise $25,000
The 2026 State of Local News report recently published by Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism found that newspapers closed or merged at a rate of nearly three a week over the past year.
ArtsWatch bucks that trend. For 15 years, it has filled a critical news gap, and provided independent news coverage dedicated to Oregon’s arts and cultural life.
ArtsWatch has doubled its audience in five years.
Now it is building on that momentum to expand:
Statewide reporting
New multimedia programming
In-person events and excursions
Free community-driven listings
This expansion will bring ArtsWatch to new audiences, increase visibility for artists, and provide more opportunities for people to gather, learn, and connect through the arts.
YOUR SUPPORT WILL …
Boost visibility for hundreds of artists across the region.
Amplify underrepresented voices.
Produce comprehensive arts reporting not found anywhere else.
Champion the transformative power of the arts.
Every new recurring donor will receive a set of postcards with Joe Cantrell’s gorgeous micro-images of rocks taken with a unique photo-stacking technique.
WAYS TO GIVE
Become a recurring donor: These meaningful gifts are particularly valued because they provide financial stability, enable budget planning, and help us to work more efficiently. New recurring donors will receive a beautiful set of postcards with images by Joe Cantrell.
Make a one-time donation: Donations in any amount go directly to pay the people who produce stories.
Donate through a DAF: Donor-Advised Funds provide a valuable investment in the community. More information and a convenient DAF finder is on the donation page.
Donate through an IRA: People who are 70½ and older can contribute up to $111,000 from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) directly to charitable nonprofits and avoid paying income taxes on the distribution.
Donate through Give!Guide: ArtsWatch is participating in Willamette Week’s Give!Guide again this year, which offers another way to donate for even more incentives, especially on Big Give Days when donors can enter to win luxury packages. Today only as a special kickoff incentive, every donation made through Give!Guide is an entry to possibly win bags of coffee beans from Nossa Familia.
