That’s just standard russian propaganda. Always happening. That’s also the reason they don’t want russians abroad to learn other languages – so they basically have full control over them with media.
And it isn’t helping that the anti-immigrant movement and sentiment is pretty strong in Finland. That will balance in favor of Russia as well.
Countering disinformation and active measures campaigns should be a priority in every Western country imo, especially the US. These tentacles have had a long time to take root.
As far as refugee processing and treatment of Middle Eastern countries – first of all, Ukraine is our direct neighbor, with shared culture, traditions, norms, etc. It makes sense we take it rather personally with them. They’re also dominantly women vs a majority men from the Islamic world, and for many of them their culture dictates a way that they see and treat women that we in the West (generally, should) view as unacceptable. Before someone starts in on the bleeding heart crap there, it’s not a stereotype of individuals, it is a factual part of many cultures in that part of the world, from forced marriages to women having to walk behind the men, and while not everyone participates, likewise not everyone abstains or wants to evolve out of it. Beyond that, there’s a process to vet immigrants from the Islamic world to separate conflict refugees and asylum seekers from economic refugees. Allowing people with a Ukrainian passport in is *far* easier to expedite than literally everyone from Algeria to Pakistan and Yemen to Azerbaijan, an area from which many people come but not all are in danger. This is simply a reality of logistics and to disagree with the commenter in the article, throwing the doors wide open to anyone who isn’t content with their country’s exchange rate is not the answer to Russian manipulation, nor the ongoing issue of mass and unsustainable immigration. Unfortunately, the processing times are not Russia’s fault, nor Finland’s, nor Ukraine’s, but rather the many individuals that cross a border, dispose of their passport so they can’t be instantly rejected, and then claim they’re from a place or circumstance that they’re actually not. People abusing the system are the reason that people who actually need and qualify for help have a hard time getting it. This is specifically why illegal, fraudulent immigration needs to be dealt with swiftly and harshly.
Good to have some balance after the targeted ‘information’ the powers at be have been putting out…

Yeah, they stopped pretty quickly even trying to spread disinformation in Finnish. It also became pretty clear once the former anti-vaccination communication channels started suddenly spreading pro-russian propaganda after the invasion.
Our biggest issue is the domestic 5th columners who continue their pro-russian/anti-western rhetoric like Ano Turtiainen, Paavo Väyrynen and the real whackjob propagandists who work directly with russia *in russia* like Johan Bäckman and Janus Putkonen.
