These theories have no scientific merit and no one seriously believes in this.
Dude, did you actually take my meme comment seriously 💀
Yes we brothers, give free oil!
Do we now owe Iran a part of our coastline?
Dont know. But name Hrvat which means Croat isnt from any slavic word.
A state that supports terrorism, that’s what I think. However, my general perception of the people, based on the Iranians I have met, is that they’re good looking, well behaved and educated.
Slavs and Sarmatians have a lot of things in common so…
You will sooner find me saying we are serbs rather than that we’re iranian
Your question makes as much sense as asking “What to Muslims think of Croatia?”
I have great respect for Iranian culture and I think you have terrific leaders. I am a fan of both Khomeini and Khamenei. But no, like others have said, not many people think we come from Iran, it is an outdated theory that was just out there few decades ago.
I don’t think that anybody takes that “Iranian origin” seriously. As for what we think about you, I can speak only for myself as it is not a common topic of conversation. Islam is common here, and generally accepted, without any incidents as far as I can recall. I respect your past – achievements in science, medicine etc. But I can’t get over the fact that your government is so oriented on religion, like it’s middle ages of something. What the hell happened, there’s a whole section in fake history porn dedicated to Islamic revolution in Iran. You are cutting yourself from the rest of the world, and you could be a highly influential nation in that part of the world.
There are three theories as to the origins of Croats. One is, as you mentioned, the area that is today Iran. The other two are what are today Poland and Ukraine. However, from what I understand, there is no solid proof that any of the three is true.
As for what I think about Iran is what I think about any other country in the world: I hate all the politicians equally, and respect all the good people equally.
If I’m not mistaken Iranic tribes(skiti) inhabited modern-day SW Russia and migrated and settled in central Asia(Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc.), then went down to settle Iran and northern Mesopotamia in one direction and Afghanistan and northern India in another
This is why we’re in the same language family tree. Genetically though we’re not that closely related
I have Iranian last name and a local linguist wrote a book about local last names and the earliest he went in church books investigation was 1638 and my last name was already there in the same village where I live. Here is a tradition for the man to stay at home so thats why the surname stayed in the same place just like many others. It is even a city in Iran like our last name. One day I will continue to investigate where he stopped. So, I dont know really. Its sad that we dont have some written proof about our origins. Croat-Iranian theorists claim that written proof is that somwhere (I dont know where, I am sorry) is written that in old Persia there was a province called Harahvatia. Croatia and Croats are actually germanized words. Nowadays, Croats are called Hrvati and in old manuscripts we were being called Harvati. It is very odd similarity, isnt it? Of course, in some point of time, Romans made a way of Christianity to our lands. And probably, we were influenced by Slavic people around us. It is just my opinion based on my investigation and education. Of course that the reality could be completely diferent, but it is very interesting topic. Sorry for my broken english.
And also, the word BAN, that means a ruler in Croatia, is also of persian heritage.
I know is hard for you but there is way more non religious people in Croatia;)
personally, I traveled to Iran 10+ years ago and spent some great times times there ( around 2 months traveling around)
I have to say we do look alike a lot ( Croatians with North-west part) so I often only my clothes did say I am not from Iran ( and you don’t have a lot of backpacks) .
As everyone who went there sad, people are really friendly and nice, sometimes I had to refuse invitations as I wasn’t sure is it because of me or Kuran.
But also beautiful girls 😉 , cheap opium, expensive beer, and worst thing I drink in my life, that bitter ethanol with orange juice, that is a killer.
This is 99,99% not a true theory. It started in the 90’s because the Serbs attacked us and in order to move away from them in every way, someone brought this theory up.
Where did Iranians come from and what was their dominant religion before 6. century?
B.s.
Science can only say that there is possible cultural influence that happened between unidentified groups in nonspecified timeframe. Scolars tried to narow the posibilities by introducing hypothesis that we speak of. Today the mainstream historians are seeing the creation and transformation of past societies rather differently because we acknowledge that “term” in one place in history is not the same “term” as today. I personally try to understand history of different groups of people as a collection of influences that are visible in genetic, phisical and spiritual heritage.
