Hey,

Lithuanian here. Traveling to Poland, visiting few mountain tops here (Rysy and Kozi Wierch), will come to Slovakia on 23rd of July.

We will stay at Zilina for a day. Visit castle near by, visit Sulov rocks, Jánošíkove Diery pathway.

Later on we will climb to Gerlachovský štít and sleep there.

What else is worth visiting around Northern part? We have couple free days and are uncertain what is worth to see as foreigner.

What is unique to Slovakia and. you would encourage tourist to see?

Nature, heritage, cool activities ?

\*EDIT\* After multiple comments, seems that I need to correct – we will be passing by the Gerlachovsky stit (by trail near by), but won’t be going to the stit. As it requires guides and is dangerous.

We will use this route for the first day [https://ibb.co/8Xb0jLN](https://ibb.co/8Xb0jLN)

  1. >climb to Gerlachovský štít and sleep there

Climbing Gerlachovský štít is only allowed with accredited guide (I suppose you have one, otherwise I’d heavily discourage you to try to go there) and sleeping there is illegal, i.e. don’t be too vocal about it publicly if you are going to do it anyway.

  2. Second what commenter above me said. Gerlachovský štít is with an accredited guide only (doesn’t have to be Slovak) and you can’t sleep there. Please, abstain from going if you don’t have one, there’s already been too many deaths in our mountains this year (some of them experienced hikers, climbers and mountain guides) and our mountain rescue service has enough work on their hands even without shit like that.

  3. Štrbské Pleso area is pretty popular to walk around when you’ll be in High Tatras. Perhaps [some caves](http://www.slovacivz.umb.sk/obsah/vzdelavanie/interakt%C3%ADvne-vzdel%C3%A1vanie/pozn%C3%A1vame-jaskyne-slovenska) or an [open-air museums](https://www.kiskatravel.sk/blog/skanzeny/skanzeny-na-slovensku) (called “Skanzen” here) of traditional Slovak villages can be of your interest. And lots of mountain ranges, castles and random nature, even modern places of interest like [Tatralandia](https://www.tatralandia.sk/) or [Tricklandia](https://www.tricklandia.sk/sk/home/).
[Here](https://slovakia.travel/en/travel-essentials/map) is a map of many of the things you can see or do in the region too 🙂

  4. I recommend some of the famous ferrata routes that are a lot of fun – Slovak Paradise has many of the best ones, and some good ones near Zilina are Janosikove Diery and Velky Rozsutec.

EDIT: I see you are going to Janosikove Diery already. Maybe a suggestion – Sulov Rocks was a bit disappointing to me (I mean it’s still pretty cool), but I would switch it for Velky Rozsutec that is in the area as well, very cool hike. It’s going to be more challenging hike though, but less so than Rysy or Gerlach, so you should be good.
