You Belgians are never joking around with your beer. I was expecting 3% of alcohol for fruity beer and I got this.

  1. Strong and fruity beer. And now you know why half of our psychiatric patients have at least an alcohol problem. 😆

    Enjoy.

  2. One of my gf’s coworkers is British. He told me a story of how he was once visiting Belgium and was slamming down this really good cherry beer one after the other. How he got the drunkest he ever was and had a killer hangover. He then told me he was drinking Delirium Red, which is 8.5%.

  3. There’s a lot of fruity beers with low(er) alcohol. All of these are alcohol 5% or lower. Some of the more noteworthy ones:

    * Mort Subite Kriek
    * Lindemans Kriek
    * Jacobins Kriek
    * Kriek Max
    * Kriek Belle-Vue
    * Kriek Boon
    * Liefmans Kriek
    * Liefmans on-the-rocks (summer variant)
    * Rodenbach FruitAge

    tbh the trend of cherry/red beers of higher alcohol percentages like the one you posted is a more recent trend, and does not really define the fruity/cherry-like beers at all.

  4. I hope you enjoyed the view as well (assuming you did drink it at Rochehaut) ! Beautiful place!

  5. Aaah this reminds me of a German friend of mine who said she didn’t like Kriek Bel-vue cause it taste like alcohol with strawberry syrup

  6. You should try Piraat Red. Same taste as the cherry Chouffe but at 10,5%. Goes in like limonade. But really good, for a fruity beer.

  7. In my small hometown they had a big party a few years ago where they had Cherry Chouffe. The local youngsters got piss drunk (oh this is like lemonade) and destroyed a record number of mailboxes that night.
