Back in 1990 the most obese out of modern EU countries was Malta, with 19,90% of all adults being obese.
In 2016, the least obese EU country was Denmark, at 21,30% obesity rate.
I wonder how much of this is just having an aging population that doesn’t move around as much.
There’s no winners in that list
We actually got less fat in relative terms, wow
The title appears incorrect, no? Unless I have misread, the most obese country in the EU in 1990 is still the most obsese country in the EU in 2016 (Malta).
I don’t really know what counts as obese, but a rate of 25% would suggest that 1:4 people is obese, I really don’t see that around me.
Insane rates, holy shit
Let’s ban Spain and Greece from the Med. diet club.
looks like the communist countries were eating good contrary to popular belief lol
That’s what eating shit food does to a body.
There’s nothing positive about body positivity.
When times get easier people get fatter.
I guess most of those obese people in malta stay at home. I didn’t see many in the streets
I’m from Denmark. We’re at the bottom of the 2016 list. If we had that obesity rate in 1990, that has us at the bottom of the list in 2016, we’d have been at the top of the 1990 list.
Pretty horrifying numbers.
I predict 15% obesity rate in Denmark by 2050.
Anyone disagree then complain by 2050.
Why Lithuania is more obese than Latvia and Estonia?
Are Malta and Romania the only two countries which kept their positions in the hierarchy?

Few non-EU countries for comparison
United States 1990: 18,70% 2016: 37,30%
United Kingdom 1990: 14,50% 2016: 29,50%
Turkey 1990: 14,70% 2016: 32,20%
Norway 1990: 12,50% 2016: 25,00%
