  1. Inevitable really. A very sensible decision given the circumstances.

    The sad part is that this won’t likely be backed up with a substantial increase in funding for more renewables (remove the moratorium on onshore wind?!), supported with a substantial rollout of insulation and gas boiler conversions. That way you build energy security AND help the cost of living crisis.

  2. It seems really obvious to me that we, as a species are NOT going to prevent climate change.

    Given that fact, emissions are irrelevant.

    You need to mitigate.

    And that either means climate engineering or flood defences etc.

    So yeah, let’s burn a shit tonne of coal, as long as someone is making a 5, 10, 50 etc year plan for dealing with environmental changes.
