Did everyone know Offaly used to be called kings county and Laois used to be called queens county?
When did Connacht conquer Longford??
Tipp is south of a place called Ireland, got it.
Yep. Laois was, and still is, the little spoon.
I nearly got into a bar fight with a drunken idiot from Laois when I pointed this fact out to him. He was loudly proclaiming it to be the most loyal Irish county in the country. I guess being American and pointing this out didn’t score me any points with him 😉 Fortunately, my father-in-law stepped in and saved me. He said to me, “yank, you know too much.” He’s not gone a month and I miss his sense of humor greatly. RIP, Matt.
I’ve seen Laois referred to as “Leix” on occasion as well.
