  1. “the couple fell into arrears in relation to a mortgage advanced by it to them in 2007 and had not made any repayments for many years”

If you’re wondering why we don’t have a competitive banking sector in this country, this is the reason. You can lend money here and have absolutely no security over the asset. He should’ve been shifted after 180 days of no payment.

  2. This kind of thing makes a mockery of people actually struggling. If you make any kind of effort to pay anything to a mortgage in Ireland the system including the banks and the courts will do their best to keep you in your home.

  3. Court declines to hear from mortgage holder who has failed to make a payment in 15 years.

    Shock, Horror.

  4. >The Gilroys opposed a lower court’s decision to grant Start Mortgages DAC a possession order in respect of the couple’s **principal** private dwelling in Navan, Co Meath

So they have more than one ?

  5. Is he getting legal aid ? If so the taxpayer is paying for what appears to be vexatious litigation as well prolonging his payment vacation

  6. This muppet and his ilk do my head in, they choose not to pay their mortgages and think they have found some loophole in the law to justify this, which they obviously have not. It makes it so much harder for people genuinely struggling to pay their bills. A bloke across the road from me was at the same craic, ‘I can’t pay my mortgage but I can go abroad and get cosmetic work done’ he was also that thick that he truly believed if he didn’t pay his electricity bill that they couldn’t cut him off if he denied esb access to his property, he got a queer shock when they cut him off. Another of his genius notions was that if you applied to a bank three times for a loan that regardless of your income/circumstances they had to give it to you. A prime example of what lack of any cop or basic education creates, they believe any bullshit.

  7. >The Circuit Court rejected the couple’s arguments and found that their allegations of malpractice and fraud were not accurate, farfetched and that there was no evidence to support their claims.

    >The Circuit Court’s decision was affirmed by the High Court last year after that court also found that there was no proof of the alleged fraud.
