We’re on a rambling ‘around the world’ bike tour, we’re about 20,000 kilometers and 14 months in. We flew into Dublin and rode through the Wicklow Mountains before connecting with the Wild Atlantic Way in Kinsale. We followed the WAW all the way to Derry, passing through Kenmare, Galway, Clifden, Sligo, Ballina, Donegal and a ton more I can’t think of at the moment.
Irish weather and the narrow roads were both challenging at times but drivers were really courteous and the coast was stunning. Just wanted to say thanks for having us and sorry for mispronouncing every Irish place name while we were there.
Jesus, that’s like something you could market to Failte Ireland.
Also you must have legs of steel!
When I was a backpacker about 20 years ago, a friendly accordion player in his 80s on Inishmore invited me in for a hot whiskey, which I spilled down my front when he had a grab at me and licked my face trying to kiss me. I guess it’s a funny story now… learned a lesson there.
This happens.. and one day you’ll
pass it on, the Heart of Freedom..
Magnificent journey. I would enjoy a good read about your travels tbh
You must be incredibly fit. Fair play! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very nice! My brother and a friend cycled the South Coast, as I recall, from around Cork or Galway to Dublin. It’s a lovely stretch. My brother’s friend got the taste for touring, and cycled absurd distances for fun.
What did you eat? Where did you sleep? Are you running off savings or are you making ends meet somehow?
Routes looka amazing. Total dream of mine. How long did it take? Do you have a blog?
Amazing! fair play to you cycling the whole way ☺️
Myself and my partner are doing a similar route along the west coast in two weeks but in a Volkswagen camper, actually cannot wait! If we get even semi decent weather I’ll be chuffed.
what an incredible experience you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life
How long did it take you to do this?…
Was the sheep farmer on the Beara peninsula by any chance?
That must’ve made your hole weak!
Fabulous. Well done.
I’ve done Derry to Galway via the WAW… Really must get around to cycling the southern half.
What was your favourite county?
Looks like you gave the R335 road (Louisberg > Leenaun) a miss which is a shame. Nicest road I’ve cycled on in Ireland. Now you’ll have an excuse to come back.
Great photos, I particularly love 11, gorgeous!
Maybe I missed this. How many km a day. What times you cycle from to? Did you allow for visiting interesting places or just keep going?
You’re making me want whiskey.
Any chance you have a YouTube or Instagram? Wouls love to see some pics of your travel at least
Inspirational! Tremendous effort ✊🏻
The world’s longest unbroken coastal road
Which part of the trip was your favourite? And why was it Kerry?
That’s amazing.
Can I ask why you didn’t stick along the coast from Ballina to Sligo Town? Some lovely beaches and coast through Enniscrone, Easkey and Aughris. And some nice wild camping spots too.
I hope you got to see the Gap of Dunloe and the Black Valley. Two of my favorite places from our visit a few years back. That little island becomes a part of you that I hope will stay for the rest of my life!
Is it just me, or does it look like they rode their bikes only half way around Ireland?
Doing the same route next month. Can’t wait 😎
Fair play to ya!
You need to start again……missed a bit in Donegal
Brilliant photos! Thanks for sharing
Fucking good job big shoots,I’m so annoyed seeing tourist only end up in Dublin or the east coast. The west coast is just the best place in the world and I’m happy more people are finding out about it rather the yet another Europeans capital city
