I’d hope she doesn’t block it. She deserves to leave the throne without a completely morally bankrupt bastard in charge.
They’ll come back a few hours afterwards.
They can never follow the rules can they, they always have to diddle the queen
I don’t think she would though. She doesn’t really care
It is not really obscure. The UK is a constitutional monarchy. The reality is that the Government is *Her Majesty’s* Government. The Monarch gets to say who is in their government: it is there in the description.
Personally, I am all up for Brenda refusing to let the Tories walk away from the disasters they have created – from the Energy Crisis to Brexit to the sexual depravity and party culture of the Commons. Remember that EU Bonnet?
Activate the Queen
They WANT the Queen to stop him calling an election, is what they mean.
I doubt she will do him any favours. Just remember whilst she was preparing to bury her husband of 70+ years Bozo was partying at number 10.
If she didn’t step in when Boris lied to her or his big show about breaking international law or the other dozen fuck ups, why should she step in now?
You can’t have it both ways Tories. She either leaves you alone or she is part of the process.
Actually she can’t. And if she could, she wouldn’t. So let’s stop pretending.
She can sack him. She might have to.
The fuck will she stir herself to any kind of action. Its not as if Boris did something respectable, like rape minors or something.
Why would she? What does The Queen have to gain by not calling an election?
The queen’s isn’t known for overstepping her position.
I hear ‘the queen could do x’ every time there’s a crisis. The queen could force through brexit, the queen could stop brexit. The queen could refuse this law, the queen could make this law.
The queen won’t. She just won’t. She doesn’t want to cause a constitutional crisis, and there’s a precedent to the queen just not doing whatever it is that goes back 70 years. If you are relying on the queen doing something then you’re very much mistaken.
She won’t get involved.
She would never do this though.
She could, she won’t though. Why would she?
She didn’t block him from illegally proroguing parliament, why would she block him from legally calling an election?
This will never happen, I don’t approve of the monarchy but I can’t see the Queen upending a lifetime of avoiding the perception of involving herself in politics to suddenly prevent the leader of a collapsed government from calling a general election!
And she won’t
The Queen could also ***technically*** declare the legs of grandmothers across Britain to be wheels, and therefore classified as bikes.
I she ever interferes with our politics, there’s a substantial chance Britain would remove the monarchy.
Anything to stay in power for as long as possible
The Conservatives are morally bankrupt! All of them were complicit, cause they voted with him, now they’re terrified Johnson is going to put it back to the people, because they know for a fact they’re getting wiped out at the general election. They’re just worried about themselves staying in power 😅 couldn’t be more clearer from the committee meeting yesterday when the chairman like frantically asking Johnson what does “UNLESS” mean! 😰
Why on Earth would the Queen go out of her way to save the party of people who lied to her and sabotaged the nation _from itself_?
That would be a rather silly thing to do though.
There’s a certain tragedy that, Boris, for whom one of the complaints is him changing the rules to fit, is being ousted by groups like the 1922, who’ve decided if they don’t like the result of confidence votes or anything else, can change their own rules to suit them – or try to find some obscure rule or loophole elsewhere.
Bercow (quite rightly) stymied Boris when he tried this wrangling and stretching of rules or procedures to try and force Brexit legislation through.
The Queen interfering like this (whether an obscure rule exists or not) would be terrible for parliamentary democracy.

That’s a strange way of describing [the constitutional convention](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascelles_Principles) that describes whether or not a snap election should be allowed.
