I’m moving to Lisbon from another EU country and i would like to buy a property, that is as close to the city centre as possible.

Almada looks to have some cheaper properties. I wanted to ask people who have gone through the buying process if i will find a lot or not in that price range. There’s not too much info on Idealista.

Any tips or insight would be great – thank you!

Edit: I know i wont be able to find somewhere IN the center. I meant CLOSE to the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. This for example came up T2 in Almada for 85k so i dont get the sarcastic responses ! i am asking a genuine question. I understand property prices are expensive….

  1. Try [casa.sapo.pt](https://casa.sapo.pt) or [imovirtual.pt](https://imovirtual.pt) along with idealista. My take as someone who lived in lisbon for the past 6 years…. You’re gonna have a hard time with that budget looking into the city centre. The south side of lisbon, south of Tejo although cheaper is still way past that i believe.

  2. For 90k euro, minimum T2, near the city center of Lisbon, maybe you can afford a cardboard box.

  3. >max. 90,000euros

You need more then that to buy decent property. Prices moved higher then 90k € several decades ago.

Try with at least 200k €.

  4. Look along the Sintra train line I suppose. I live there and I can get to the Lisbon centre in about 40 mins by train.

  5. Hey OP just found the perfect house for you for that price. By the pictures it includes central heating and it’s in the very heart of the city. Great ventilation and sunlight, close to shops and businesses, the only issue I see is that it might not be very well insulated.

  6. T2 for 90k near Lisbon is gonna be tough. Search in Almada, Corroios, Seixal, Barreiro.. But yeah, probably not going to be able to get anything decent with that budget, unfortunately. Ignore the trolls

  7. What do you want for 90k? A nice place or anything will do? This is important, even in the suburbs life is pretty expensive, specially in housing.

If anything will do, I’d advise you to check amadora or the south bank of the river, with the latter being where I believe you will get what you want. As the nicer the place you want, the further you will have to go. Amadora can be a good bet, but as you get further as you get you get into sintra and the prices will rise again, as you get the glamour of town

This is if you want to use public transportation to go to the city everyday. If that’s not the case, or you don’t mind with the bus, you can check some towns near mafra, they can get cheaper because they are not in the city sphere.

I’m looking for a place of my own, and I’m also looking for a 2 bedroom apartment to buy. Within the metropolitan area (AML) and near the border between city and suburbs, the realistic price for that apartment will be surely over 130k, even if you’re not in a good area.

  8. Maybe try a shithole like Buraca for that price… Best case scenario, you’re able to sleep without being woken up by blasting music all night long and your car still has like 3 tires in the morning.

  9. just wanted to let you know that the example you found is an apartment that comes with tenants that have frozen rents and cannot be kicked out (usually old people who pay like 30-50€ per month), that’s why it’s so cheap.

it’s fine if you are just looking to invest, but know that the return will be very small until the old tenant dies or agrees to leave and you can finally update the rents.

however, if you are looking to live in it, you can’t. so read the descriptions very carefully, otherwise you’ll be in trouble.

(and not trying to be cunty or whatever, but even in the outskirts of lisbon is very hard to find somewhere liveable for 90k, maybe with 100-130k)

  10. 90k should be enough… for the downpayment and all the taxes you’ll need for a loan for the 250k+ 2 bedroom apartment in the city. There are cheaper options around Lisbon, but for 90k that’s pretty much impossible, at least near the hustle and bustle you’re looking for. Maybe near Caçem, Queluz, Massamá, or even the south bank. Just be warned that it’s nothing like the city, so you might get disappointed.
