I could be wrong, but Russia engaging a war with NATO seems unlikely, yes they have a capable military at least equal with what NATO could put out at first, but the economic repercussions from this are gone be really hard on Russia. We can assume they count on China support but China is also very dependent on outside trade being a huge exporter and Siberian resources are important but only if you have people to sell them too. But as suggested in article some small gains can be had from this so we will see.
